Youth FIRST Athletics — Team Chat: Athletes-Only Channel Guardian Consent

This notice explains the guardian permission for the athletes-only channel in the app's team chat. It is shown every time you are asked to enable it.
How team chat is built
The app's chat is within the team only — there is no messaging with anyone outside the squad. It has three channels. Two are general team channels. The third is an athletes-only channel, available to athletes 13–17 who have their own (parent-approved) login. Athletes under 13 have no login and cannot use chat at all.
What you are consenting to
By enabling the athletes-only channel for your athlete, you permit them to post and read messages in a channel where the participants are the team's athletes. That is the entire scope.
Safeguards that are always on
Your consent is re-confirmed at every enable. If the channel is turned off (by you, or for any reason) it does not come back on without you confirming again. Permission never silently persists.
Parents can read the athletes' channel. It is athletes-only for posting, never for parental visibility. You can open and read it from your parent account at any time.
The coach moderates the channel.
A profanity filter runs on messages.
No private messaging. There are no direct messages or private channels between the coach and an athlete, or between athletes, anywhere in the app.
What this consent does not cover
Discord is a separate platform, outside this app, with its own rules: 13+ and parent-visible by team policy. Enabling in-app chat does not touch Discord, and links out to it are labeled as external.
This consent does not change any other setting — feed, leaderboards, photo release, and notifications are all controlled separately.
Withdrawing
Turn the channel off for your athlete at any time in your parent account. Turning it back on will require this consent again. Each enable and disable is recorded in the consent audit log.
