Youth FIRST Athletics — Photo/Video Release
Effective date: August 17, 2026
This notice explains exactly what the photo/video release in the app does and does not do. The election (grant or deny) is made by a parent or guardian at enrollment and can be changed only by a guardian, at any time.
Two layers — private is always private
Layer 1 — Private (always, regardless of your election): Photos and videos of your athlete — whether uploaded by your family as highlights or by the coach as exercise demonstrations — are stored in a private storage bucket and served only through expiring signed URLs. They are visible only to your family and the coach. They are never openly addressable on the internet.
Layer 2 — Public squad reel (only with layered permission): A photo or video appears in the public squad reel only when both of these are true:
Your family has opted in to the reel, and
The coach approves the specific item.
Neither alone is enough. You can withdraw your opt-in at any time, and withdrawn items come out of the reel.
If you GRANT the release
Your family's private photo/video features work as above.
You may (but never must) opt items into the public squad reel; coach approval is still required per item.
Your athlete may also appear in optional, family-controlled sharing you set up yourself (for example, a recruit page behind a token link only you hold and can revoke).
If you DENY the release
Your family can still upload and view private highlights, and the coach's demo media still works.
Nothing depicting your athlete ever appears in the public squad reel or any public place.
Nothing else in the app changes — training features are unaffected.
Changing your mind
Guardians can flip the election in the app at any time; the change and its date are recorded in the consent audit log.
Withdrawal is honored going forward and removes items from the public reel. We cannot recall copies third parties may have made while an item was public — one reason approval is layered and per-item.
What this release is not
It is not consent to advertising use of your child's image by anyone else — we do not sell or license media.
It is not a social-media release; any external links (e.g., team socials) are labeled, and posting there would be governed by this same election.
