Signing up
The short version: anyone 18 or over can make an account right now, for free, with no code and nobody’s permission. Hiring Coach Jon is a separate, optional decision.
What is Brevard NEXT?
The adult program of Youth FIRST Athletics, LLC, built by Coach Jon Shimer. Same app, its own side: your own programs, workout tracking, the nutrition pack, progress charts and the member community, for adults 18 and over.
The youth program is separate, with separate data. If you are looking for training for a 4 to 17 year old, that is Youth FIRST Athletics.
How do I sign up?
Open the app, pick Brevard NEXT at the front door, and create an account with your email and a password. Confirm the email, then the join step asks for your name, date of birth, an emergency contact, a yes or no on the photo and video release, and your acceptance of the membership documents.
It takes a couple of minutes and nothing in it costs money.
Do I need a code from Coach?
No. Adult signup is open: choose Brevard NEXT and you are in. If Coach Jon did give you a code, typing it still works and lands you in the same place.
Who can have a login?
Adults 18 and over, one account each, holding your own data. The date of birth you enter and your own confirmation are both checked, and the server checks it again.
Under 18 belongs on the youth side, where a guardian account comes first. See the Youth FIRST questions and answers.
What am I accepting at signup?
Five documents, all readable right now, before you make an account:
- Liability waiver and release
- Informed consent and health screening
- Code of conduct
- Privacy policy
- Data retention and deletion
The photo and video release is optional and either answer is fine. If a document is ever updated, the app asks you to read and accept the new version, it does not quietly swap it.
Money, plainly
What does the app cost?
Nothing, forever. Every program, every tracker, the whole nutrition pack, the community, all of it. No trial, no paywall, no expiry, no ads, and your data is never sold.
The only thing that ever costs money on this side is hiring Coach Jon as your personal trainer, and that is entirely your call.
What if I want Coach Jon as my trainer?
Those are personal training rates, not app charges:
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| First session, one per new client | Free |
| 30-min 1-on-1 | $25 |
| 60-min 1-on-1 | $50 |
| NEXT Plan, 1 session a week | $192/mo |
| NEXT Pro Plan, 2 sessions a week | $360/mo |
| NEXT Squad group session, per person | $10 |
A plan is Coach building you a progressive program, meeting you in person for hour-long 1-on-1 sessions, and answering your check-ins through Discord. Packages, group rates and the discounts are in Plans & Payments inside the app. All prices are pre-tax.
How does the free first session work?
Thirty or sixty minutes with Coach Jon, free, one per new client. No card, no obligation afterwards.
It is not a promotion and it does not expire. A free first session is standard practice in personal training: you meet the coach and train once before you spend a dollar. Ask for one with the free first session form, or text (321) 365-5079.
How do I pay, and does anything charge me automatically?
You pay Coach directly: Zelle (no fee on either end), Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or cash at a session, and he confirms every payment himself.
Your month starts the day your payment arrives, and the plan renews when the next payment comes in. Nothing is ever charged automatically, the app never holds a card.
Payments run under the legal business name Youth FIRST Athletics, LLC, which is the name your bank will show.
What if I want to stop, or need money back?
Stopping training is simply not sending the next payment, plus a message to Coach so he can free up your slot. There is nothing recurring to cancel. Your app account is unaffected and stays free.
Anything else about money, a missed session or a refund, is arranged with Coach directly. There is no automatic refund rule in the app.
Using it
Do I have to hire a coach to use the app?
No. Plenty of members never do. Sign up, follow the programs, track what you want to track, use the nutrition tools, and pay nothing, for as long as you like.
What do I need to bring to a session?
Water, training shoes and clothes for the weather. Bring anything a doctor has told you about your body: the informed consent and health screening at signup asks about it, and Coach programs around it.
If something changes in your health after that, tell him. It is the one thing the app cannot notice for you.
I have not trained in years. Is this for me?
Yes. The programs start where you are, and the app has a set of guides written for exactly that, including the first weeks in a gym when it feels like everybody else knows the routine.
Nothing in the app ranks you against another member unless you switch that on yourself.
Your data
Who can see my data?
You, and Coach Jon, for the profile, training records and health notes you share with him. No other member, ever.
That separation is enforced in the database itself, not in the buttons on the screen, and the adult side is kept fully separate from the youth program. The privacy policy itemises what is collected and why.
Do you sell data or run ads?
No, to both, and there are no advertising identifiers and no third party marketing. The app is free because Coach’s income is personal training, not your attention.
Can I get a copy of my data, and can I delete my account?
Both, yourself, from Data & Privacy in the app. Export writes everything the app holds about you to a spreadsheet, a JSON file, or a printable page. Delete my account then removes you from the live system, behind a confirmation that asks you to type your own name, because there is no undo.
Export first if you want to keep your benchmarks and history. A few records survive deletion because tax law and a signed waiver require them, and data retention and deletion says exactly which and for how long.
Can I just pause instead?
Yes. Leave the account dormant and nothing new is collected while you are away. Come back whenever, your history is where you left it.
Still have a question?
Text or call Coach Jon at (321) 365-5079, or email jonathan@youthfirstathletics.com. If it belongs on this page, he will put it here.
Want the whole tour first?
Everything inside the app, on one page, free and built for Brevard: What's inside Brevard NEXT.
